Sandhill Custom Designs was founded by Mariann Henderson, a lifelong maker with a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, materials, and thoughtful design. With a background that blends creativity and structure, Mariann brings a calm, detail-oriented approach to every project. After spending nearly 30 years in the accounting field, Mariann transitioned into full-time fabrication and design work — a shift that allowed her to combine technical precision with creative expression. What began with custom soft furnishings for a local furniture store quickly expanded into upholstery and window treatments, where she developed a deep respect for the process, materials, and problem-solving required to create custom work. Over the past decade, Mariann has continued to refine her skills through hands-on experience, ongoing education, and professional involvement within the industry. While Sandhill Custom Designs has a strong foundation in upholstery, the studio’s current focus is on custom window treatments and soft furnishings, with select upholstery projects accepted on a limited basis. Mariann is known for her collaborative approach, clear communication, and commitment to quality — guiding clients through each step of the process to ensure the finished pieces feel intentional, functional, and timeless.
